WORLD-RENOWN SORRENTO CHEF VINCENZO GALANO
Rosemont, Illinois (January 21, 2008) - Carlucci Rosemont announces a rare visit by acclaimed Chef Vincenzo Galano, culinary master from Sorrento, Italy. Monday through Wednesday, February 25-27, 2008, Galano will join Carlucci's Executive Chef Luigi Negroni in a milestone culinary collaboration. Together they'll share their gourmet talents in preparing delicacies of Italy's romantic southwestern coast, marked by an abundance of fresh citrus and seafood. A culminating Wine Dinner on Wednesday, February 27th will celebrate "The Flavors and Fragrances of Mediterranean Cuisine". Cocktails begin at 6:30pm, followed by a 7:15 pm five-course, sit-down meal, including Pan Fried Scampi sprinkled with Powered Porcini Mushroom, Celery and Sun Dried Tomatoes; Ravioli Stuffed with Smoked Potato and Black Olives in Scorpion Fish Consommé with Chicken Meatballs; Monkfish Rolled in Bacon and Sesame Seeds served with Shredded Cabbage and a Lentil and Tomato Confit Broth.
"We are truly privileged to welcome such a celebrity," says Carlucci owner Graziano Berto. Hailing from Sorrento's five-star Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, Galano has prepared countless high-profile wine and food celebrations. Most recently, he was chef of a gala evening featuring famous menus of Italian and international movies and literature, as well as for a dinner with Michelin star chefs from Campania and Tuscany. He led cooking classes at the 2006 and 2007 Italian Cuisine Exhibitions in Japan, and was head chef for the 2004 Tourism Operators Evening at Grosvenor Hotel in London. In 2003, Galano was chef for the Grand Jury Conference and Wine Tasting held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. Galano also won medals in 2000 at Stuttgart's International Intergastra Competition and Italy's Italian Cuisine Catering competition.
